Password Strength Visualizer

Type a password to see exactly how its mathematical complexity (entropy) affects how long a hacker would need to crack it.

Why length matters more than complexity

Many websites force you to create passwords like P@ssw0rd1! by requiring a mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols. While this adds complexity, the password is still short. A modern cracking rig can guess a short, complex password very quickly.

However, if you use a "passphrase" made of multiple random words (like correct horse battery staple), the sheer length of the password makes the mathematical combinations so massive that it would take centuries to crack, even without special symbols.
